Commercial Office Design
Based in Liverpool Street this private financial client appointed HamburyHird Design to develop a blueprint for their future office accommodation. 40,000 sq ft of their existing office building was allocated to the development of a pilot scheme which would be in keeping with modern day work-place practices. The space delivered a variety of settings each providing employees with a choice of how, when and where they could work, enabling staff to physically locate themselves where most suitable for the completion of their tasks.
The mix of workplace activities varied from intense, focused work to impromptu, informal meetings combined with the provision of conference rooms, 1:1 quiet pods and self-learning zones, with the aim of assisting and stimulating interaction and communication between staff.
The pilot scheme also encompassed the design of a new staff cafe servery and visitor toilets.
Working across several sectors and continents, the design concept needed to capture the international nature of the client. The variety of cultures, countries and industries across which they work was represented in the variety and composition of different timber types. As if looking across a patchwork landscape from above the timbers form a pattern, contrasting with hues of blues and green of the graded glass, reflecting the relationship between land and sea, solid and translucent.
